Description: The Tear Duct Surgery (Dacryocystorhinostomy) Treatment Package is designed for individuals suffering from chronic tear duct blockages leading to excessive tearing, infections, or sinus problems. DCR is a surgical procedure that creates a new tear drainage pathway from the tear sac (lacrimal sac) to the inside of the nose, bypassing the obstructed area.
During the initial consultation, the ophthalmologist will evaluate the patient’s tear drainage system, discuss symptoms, and review imaging studies if necessary. The surgery can be performed as follows:
External DCR: An incision is made on the side of the nose to access the lacrimal sac and create an opening to the nasal cavity.
Endoscopic DCR: A less invasive technique using an endoscope inserted through the nostril to visualize and perform the operation without external incisions.
The goal of the surgery is to relieve symptoms associated with tear duct obstruction, improve tear drainage, and enhance overall eye comfort.
